Over the last few years I have been researching my family’s background and have been startled by my forebears and their achievements, particularly a gentleman called Ted who was a “Monuments Man”.
A quiet Sunday, lots of brash and some stumps. A great way to develop a proper thirst over the course of a day.
With bonfire expertise provided by the inimitable Bruce Allen and labour by myself we burned through three and made inroads into another three. By the end of the operation access into the woodland at the top of Dunans policies was properly enabled.
The pints of Highlander were especially welcome that evening. Now all I have to do is put in the culverts!
Just to record one of those moments in life when you suddenly realise everything has changed irrevocably, and you are consequently a very proud parent and husband.
Everyone won medals. Deserved ’em. Good stuff Mrs Hawkins & Co. The highlight was the team pursuit around the shinty pitch (pictured below)!
G. won the 60m dash in fine style by all accounts, and H. won gold in the football as the Kilmodan team’s goalie – saving some very important shots on the way!
Delightful to see such a happy couple wed, and for them to be surrounded by such a lovely welcoming bunch of friends and family. Thanks Mike and Ali for inviting us, it was a privilege and a joy!
